Forest of Spears - 2nd Orc regiment

A quick one today, continuing the Ral Partha orc horde with some Heavy Impalers. For this unit, I got a bit more variety by variously twisting spears... really brought me back to the good ol' days of metal models, where that wouldn't just snap a part.

What is Best in Life? - Silver Tower Ogroid Thaumaturge + Darkoath Chieftain

Silver Tower's update, in the Darkoath Chieftain, is actually one of my favorite recent GW models, since I think he has a really classic fantasy barbarian vibe, and the face really seals the deal, with the kind of threatening smile. Despite baloon-like muscles and some oversized weapons, I think the model has some surprising subtlety.

Who the Hell Do You Think I Am? - Kingdom Death Forsakers

One of a few references I hadn't really encountered prior to the first Kingdom Death Kickstarter, I definitely hadn't recognized Kamina... thought he was some Final Fantasy character I didn't recognize. While Gurren Lagann isn't my favorite show ever, it's a pretty perfect reference for the setting.

Building a Tharmy Thworthy of Thwar - Staring Ral Partha Orc Army

This is the beginning of a massive orc collection, which is reaping the rewards of a lot of inefficient experimentation with trying to make units look like they weren't regimented while they were coherent. I have two sets of mixes each for wood, cloth, fur, and rawhide/flayed skin, going 50/50 with each sculpt type. Given that there are only three sculpts in these units, I think they look pretty unique. Well, off to do a bajillion more!

(Did anyone else think Sauron's voice modulation made it sound like he had a weird lisp?)

Seeing Red - Modified Kingdom Death Butcher

So, I got tired of Kingdom Death's "menacing" models often just kind of standing around, particularly in the case of a flailing blood-crazed berserker.
